Responsible for the overall direction and coordination of ambulance field services ensuring overall efficiency and the highest level of patient care. Responsible for the overall smooth operations of the company ensuring all personnel, vehicle, and equipment operate in an efficient manger. He/she has the authority to make supervisory decisions affecting the positive outcome of the company's operations and to take appropriate disciplinary action up to suspension without pay when required. Responsible for the developing and maintaining of drivers policies and procedures, manual, and driver outline. Responsible for scheduling regular and overtime shifts for full and part-time field employees. Knowledge of the policy and procedure manual, the driver manual, the safety and training manual and all other policy and procedures. To ensure the highest quality of service available to all our customers and employees. To encourage proactive communication between employees and management. Ensure scheduling is done properly by filling regular and overtime shifts while avoiding as much overtime as possible. Initial point of contact for accident investigations and reporting. Keep current on all field activities and the ability to perform EMT tasks.


  • Supervise and coordinate shift activities of the EMTs, and all operation staff.
  • Maintain constant up-to-date knowledge and records of all current protocols issued by all regulatory agencies pertaining to ambulance services.
  • Ensure that all vehicles and equipment, at your assigned station, maintenance objectives are implemented and that equipment is efficiently used and maintained.
  • Ensure no company vehicles are used for unnecessary uses.
  • Ensure proper communication of all company policies within field operations to all staff members timely and effectively.
  • Responsible for maintaining proper licensing on all vehicles assigned to your station.
  • Implement all directives issued by the upper management.
  • On call for all operations related issues/matters during your shift or in regards to your shift.
  • Resolve complaints from EMT's regarding work assignments, vehicles, equipment, etc.
  • Inspect on-duty vehicles and employees, assigned to your station, daily ensuring compliance with all requirements in terms of cleanliness and supply inventory. Spot checking all required paperwork.
  • Inspect all stations for cleanliness and investigate all deficiencies reported by oncoming crews with regard to crew's quarters.
  • Implement Field Training process and monitor performance of field personnel.
  • Counsel employees on poor work performance or policy violations.
  • Inventory supplies and equipment for stocking ambulances.
  • Aid Management in maintaining consistency in the evaluation process.
  • Maintain company compliance with OSHA regulations and SB 198.
  • Evaluate and constantly help to update the training process.
  • Provide classroom instruction on state laws, company policies, and general operating procedures of company-owned motor vehicles in both emergency and non-emergency mode of transportation.
  • Perform driving evaluations on current employees.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of all training classes.
  • Shall act as a resource person to new employees in matters related to driving.
  • Perform annual driving review and cone courses with all ambulance drivers.
  • Ensure all shift documentation is completed and turned in at the end of each shift.
  • Aid the Operations Manager in assuring all paperwork is turned in and completed in a timely manner (check sheets, PCR, DAT, RX,EMS, etc.)
  • Aid in the follow up for incorrect billing information or billing face sheets, as needed.
  • Upon notification by the Operations Manager, investigate and report all time expectations, ensure response times coincide with expectations.
  • Monitor and limit losses due to workers' compensation or equipment failures.
  • Assure station duties are posted at each station and periodically inspect for safety.
  • Trouble shoot safety hazards and follow through on the limitation of the hazard.
  • Being involved in the evaluation process of current field employees.
  • Implement and help create programs that motivate and encourage team building among employees.
  • Monitoring that station duties are performed in a timely manner.
  • Monitoring for proper radio traffic and overall manual compliance.
  • Trouble shoot for problems in field activities and suggest possible solutions.
  • Report any and all problems, information, and/or suggestions regarding the overall operation of company to the Operations Manager and/or President of the company.
  • Establish good rapport with customers and employees.
  • Washing, waxing, keeping clean, and monitoring for maintenance assigned vehicle.
  • Lead by example setting.
  • Must be a team player.
  • Available during off duty hours to fill shifts for sick employees.
  • Available to staff reserve unit or additional unit, during off duty time, as needed.
  • Responsible for adhering to all company policies and procedures.
  • Perform all duties as defined in the EMT job description.


  • Some level of management/supervisory experience in the EMS Industry
  • EMT- Basic Certification (minimum)
  • Valid Driver's License and acceptable driving record
  • Valid CPR Card for the Health Care Provider
